Grass Lake Mission Church

The Grass Lake Mission Church is located on 133rd Street (off of County Road 43) in Kanabec County.
Its restoration and preservation is thanks in large part to the Friends of the Grass Lake Church.

The Grass Lake Church is the last surviving building in the town of Grass Lake. Grass Lake was originally settled in the 1870's by Swedish immigrants and established in 1883. The Church was officially registered in 1886, and completed in 1887. That building burned in 1894 and was not rebuilt until 1898 due to the depression of the decade, and that building is the one still standing today.

The building has since been beautifully restored and renovated by the wonderful Friends of the Grass Lake Church.

FRIENDS OF THE GRASS LAKE CHURCH:

Friends of the Grass Lake Church is a group of individuals who work tirelessly to keep up the preservation, use, and restoration of the Grass Lake Church and surrounding grounds. They continue to work hard to keep the restoration and upkeep of the church. The group is run entirely by volunteers in the Kanabec County area, while the building is owned by the Kanabec County History Center.

We recommend that you bring bug repellent with you to visit!
