Rental Facilities

The Banquet Room at the Kanabec History Center is available for meetings and private groups such as showers, graduations, receptions, birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, small weddings, small conferences, and more.
The History Center is fully handicapped accessible.

Our kitchen, television, projector, and banquet room with tables and chairs, are here for your service!


Outdoors / Grounds
You can rent our outdoor grounds for the same price as our indoor banquet room! Our grounds include:
  • our caboose
  • Coin School (currently closed to the public)
  • gazebo
  • functional outdoor brick oven (we have pizza pans we can provide)
  • Webster Schoolhouse and gardens
  • fire pit
  • Whittier School
  • our fenced in backyard with picnic tables​​
  • horseshoe pit  (rings available at KHC)

These outdoor areas are great for weddings, parties, family reunions, and gatherings!

Rental Fees

​Looking for a great Wedding Venue? Rent our indoor and outdoor facilities. Book today $300-400.00. Call for availability. Want a church? Historic Grass Lake Church (located in Grass Lake) is available (has no indoor plumbing or bathroom).
Kanabec History Center Members: $20 per hour (3 hour minimum charge = $60 )
Non-Members: $30 per hour (3 hour minimum charge = $90)
Clubs: $15 per meeting for recurring monthly rentals
Weddings: $300-$400 All Day (includes indoor and outdoor) 
Graduation: Members - $200   Non-Members $250

When scheduling, be sure to include your set-up and clean-up time. This is part of your paid time! 
Advanced scheduling of the Rental Facilities is required!
 Pre-payment holds your date. Call to schedule & confirm your reservation dates at 320-679-1665, or stop by our offices located at 805 Forest Ave. West in Mora during business hours Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
(Depending on Rental activity, we may be required to retain a damage deposit and additional insurance coverages.)


NOTE: Room Usage Fee DOES NOT Include Exhibit Hall Admission.
Regular admission prices to the Kanabec History Center exhibit hall applies to all groups booked during regular business hours unless a group rate is arranged prior to your event.

All renters are required to do full clean up, including dry mopping floors; vacuuming if necessary; wiping down counters, tables, chairs; cleaning any spills, stains, crumbs, and scraps from crafts, etc.; washing any dishes; putting away all tables and chairs. We thank you in advance for caring for KHC!

KHC Hall Amenities

              Want to know what exactly we have to offer renters, and what you'll need to bring? Check out the list and slideshow below!

  KHC HAS FOR YOUR USE:
  • Banquet room with a standing capacity of 80 people (currently limited due to COVID), which includes air conditioning and heating
  • 58" flat screen TV with a DVD player
  • 80" pull-down projector screen (*renters would need to bring their own projector)
  • CD player stereo with speakers
  • Clip-on microphone with mini speaker attached and large speaker
  • Multiple extension cords of numerous lengths
  • A 28"x34" dry erase board with stand (*renters would need to bring their own markers, erasers, and eraser solution)
  • 11 tables and 53 chairs. Please stack chairs in 5 columns of 9 and 1 column of 8, avoiding the floor vents. We thank you in advance for helping us stay efficient and organized. (*renters would need to bring their own table cloths)
  • Fully stocked kitchen which opens to and separates from the Banquet Room with a rolling shutter door over the counter and one regular door. Kitchen supplies including: a refrigerator and freezer combo, four-burner stove and conventional oven, microwave, and double basin kitchen sink; countertop space; a x17 full fine china set; x44 set of regular use cream colored glass plates and glass mugs; numerous plastic wine glasses; a coffee pot/maker and coffee pitchers (x12); flatware and steak/carving knives; salt and pepper shakers; butter plate and sugar serving jars; serving spoons and forks; ladles, spatulas, and lots of tongs; ice cream scoops, can openers, a corkscrew, a bottle cap remover, pizza cutters, scissors; frying pans; serving trays and food platters; two beverage table setting pitchers; one large beverage dispenser; two five-gallon beverage coolers; two toasters; two large crock-pots/slow cookers, one medium sized crock-pot/slow cooker, one small crock-pot/slow cooker; cordless kettle; two pizza pans; x10 marshmallow toasting forks/sticks; oven mitts and hot pads; one apron; dish soap, sponges, washcloths, and towels. (*renters would need to bring their own napkins, bowls, and food, including condiments, beverages, and coffee creamer.)
    • ​KHC does not provide plastic/paper utensils or napkins but does have a supply of Styrofoam cups, paper plates, plastic flatware, and paper towels in case of emergency. 
  • Cleaning supplies (as renters are required to do their own full clean-up—please leave KHC looking better than you found it!) including garbage bags, plain white garbage bins, aesthetically concealed large garbage can & table holder, vacuum, dry mop, two wet mops, swiffer, broom and dust pan, surface cleaner spray, and fly swatter.
  • KHC also provides spacious (handicap accessible), clean bathrooms; coat hangers in the hall outside the banquet room; floor rugs for brushing the weather off your shoes; and multiple choices of lighting ranging from pleasantly dim, efficiently normal, and energetically bright! 
  • Outside we have lots of space for tents, canopies, tables, gatherings and activities. We have two horseshoe throwing target stakes and four horseshoe rings; a fully functional brick oven (we have lighters, matches, and pizza pans we can provide for cooking!); a small fire pit (we have lighters and matches); and numerous picnic tables recently refreshed with fun paint patterns, which can also be covered with tablecloths for professionalism or elegance when needed. We have three old wooden school buildings that are fun to tour and great for pictures and a throw-back or country aesthetic; a fire house replica; an outdoor farming equipment display; and displays inside our pole building; all which create a laid-back and comforting rustic environment.
